Salonee moves from Rockford, IL to Memphis, TN for work, landing the job both she and Jacob applied for, a detail that will never be forgotten. She quickly meets her new coworker Jacob, who is immediately annoying, but often correct and always brilliant. From the start, banter and arguments come easily. Over time, the competition softens into flirting, coworkers turn into friends, and months later, into something more.

Spending more time together means learning the little things, including habits, routines, and wildly different approaches to cooking. Jacob discovers a love for spices and the realization that pasta requires more than just salt, while Salonee learns to deal with having a weekend planned by the minute, starting at 8am and not whenever she rolls out of bed. In May, they take their first trip together to Dallas, Texas, the first of many trips with friends and family.

Still living in Memphis, Salonee begins her MBA at UCLA. Shortly after, Jacob moves to Boston for a new role, and suddenly their relationship goes bi-coastal. Flights replace car rides, FaceTime replaces dinner dates, and long distance becomes the first real test of how much they are willing to show up for each other.

After months of long distance, Salonee lands a new role that finally brings her closer to Jacob once again. Leaving Memphis is harder than expected; goodbyes, favorite spots, and little memories make it bittersweet. It’s a farewell to the city that started it all, and the beginning of their next chapter together.

Salonee joins the Brown family for their hiking trip in Sedona, Arizona. Having never really hiked before, she quickly learns trails are longer than they look and mountains are steeper than they seem. Between gasps for air, awkward footing, and Jacob’s subtle “encouragement,” she barely survives her first hike!

Jacob travels to India to meet Salonee’s family for the first time. After multiple flight delays, cancellations, and almost getting stranded in Abu Dhabi, he finally lands in Mumbai. Between dodging traffic, navigating chaos, and surviving the family’s curious questions, Jacob somehow wins everyone over.

Jacob meets Salonee’s extended family for the first time, and it is pure chaos: snapping photos, endless questions, hugs from every direction, and barely a moment to catch his breath. Finally, the Roka takes place, a traditional Indian ceremony that marks them as a promised couple and, in Indian culture, as engaged (even though he still hasn’t officially popped the question).

Back in Boston, Jacob cannot wait any longer. On a cold and windy day at Piers Park, with the skyline behind them and the park where they have shared so many walks, he asks Salonee to marry him, knowing that waiting for perfect weather might have made her lose her patience.

After the proposal at Piers Park, Jacob and Salonee soak in the moment, laughing and dreaming about all the adventures ahead. Their favorite walks now have a little extra sparkle. They look forward to cherishing their friendship, companionship, and all the travels, big and small, that await them around the world.

Jacob and Salonee tie the knot in a quiet civil ceremony with family, officially starting their life together as husband and wife. It is intimate, full of love and laughter, and just the beginning, with a big celebration with friends and family planned for the following year.
